Peter Moore PSM receives Lifetime Achievement Award

The Australian Water Association is pleased to announce that Peter Moore PSM was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award during the Ozwater’20 Online awards ceremony on 25 June.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises and honours Australian Water Association members who, through long and meritorious service, have made a positive contribution to the Australian water industry.

Traditionally, this award is announced at the Ozwater conference, but with restrictions on gatherings, the announcement was made as part of the Association’s second virtual awards ceremony.

The Association’s President Carmel Krogh OAM presented the award online and shared some of the many contributions that Peter Moore PSM has made, not only to the Western Australian (WA) water industry, but to the Association.

“Peter has worked in the WA water industry for more than 40 years and is widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable water industry executives in Australia,” she said.

“He has been at the forefront of transforming water industry management and water supply planning that took Western Australia from a state impacted by climate change and reduced rainfall into a new era of growth.

“In 1995, Peter led a team to change the way the state's water industry was managed, leading to the creation of the Water Corporation.

“Peter has been at the forefront of a new approach to water supply planning that has taken Perth away from its traditional reliance on dams and introduced sustainable new sources that are resilient to climate change, including seawater desalination and groundwater aquifer recharge," she added.

“His contribution and support of these innovative schemes has led to the Water Corporation being recognised internationally as one of the world’s leading water utilities and a pioneer in securing alternative water supplies.

“Peter became a member of the Australian Water Association in 1972 and has played a key role in the development of the Association as we know it today.

“While he held many senior roles at the Water Corporation and as the Association’s President between 2015 to 2017, Peter took a particular focus on the development of young water professionals, mentoring many graduates and people early in their careers.

“To this day, Peter still volunteers on the WA Branch Committee, passing on his extensive knowledge and offering support to water professionals of all experiences.

“On behalf of the Association, I would like to thank Peter for his service, dedication and contribution to the Australian water industry, and congratulate him on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.”
